Description

Cottondale Baptist Church was the Tuscaloosa News Feature Church on March 13, 1970.

"The Cottondale Baptist Church was organized in 1843 with services held in a log cabin. A new building was built in 1888 and served as a meeting place until destroyed by fire in 1951. In 1952 a new auditorium was built with a seating capacity of 300, with an educational building added in 1962 to accommodate the 428 members. Members having increased to 607 by the end of 1966. We believe that the Bible is God's infallible Word, written by men who serve divinely and uniquely inspired by the Holy Spirit, and that it is our supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice. We affirm our belief in the verbal and plenary inspiration of the Scriptures in their original autographs. We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, born of a virgin, sinless in His life, who atoned for the sins of the world by His death on the cross. We believe in His bodily resurrection, His ascension into Heaven, His High Priestly, visible, premillenial return to the world according to His promise. The church is presently making plans for a Spring Revival which will feature Evangelist Frank Taylor, a converted Catholic. Services will be April 12-19 at 7 P.M.

The Cottondale Baptist Church is located 1 block east of Highway 11 on the corner of 21st Place E. and Simpson Road in Cottondale. James Rushing is the present pastor."
