Temple Baptist Church was the Tuscaloosa News Featured Church on December 25, 1972. Reverend Carl Dockery was the pastor at the time.

Temple Baptist Church started as a mission of Southside Baptist Church in September 1957. On April 13, 1958, the mission was organized into a church by 23 charter members. Since then the membership has increased to almost 500 members.

Continuing to minister to the needs of every person in this area, program and building plans are under study by a Long Range Planning and Survey Committee which is making plans for a permanent auditorium.

Temple's total ministry is made up of Worship, witnessing, fellowship, youth recreation, personal visitation, Bible Study, Prayer, Missions, Christian education, music training for every age group and other activities.

Sunday worship Services are held at 11:00 A.M. and 7:30 P.M., Sunday School at 9:45 A.M. and Training Union at 6:15 P.M.

Reverend Carl Dockery came to Temple Baptist on December 1, 1970. He is a graduate of Howard College and Southwestern Seminary at Fort Worth, Texas. He and his wife have three children.
