Frank Manderson served as mayor of Northport 1976-1984. Frank Manderson was a native of Brookwood according to his Tuscaloosa News obituary. Mayor Manderson was also a graduate of the University of Alabama where he played football and baseball. Before he was Mayor of Northport Frank Manderson served as Civil Defense Director for Governors George Wallace, Lurleen Wallace, and Albert Brewer.
Frank Manderson was an active member of the community serving on such boards as the Northport Boys Club, Tuscaloosa County Historic Preservation Board, the Red Cross and Kentuck. He was married to Augusta Standeffer Manderson and had two daughters Diane M. Barnes and Betty Hale.
