Dr. Charles P. Bell served as mayor of Northport 1912-1916. According to his Tuscaloosa News obituary on February 8, 1935, in addition to serving as mayor, Dr. Bell was a long time local physician. A member of Northport Baptist Church, Dr. Bell was an active member of his church and community.
Dr. Bell was first married to Jennie Archibald of Knoxville, Alabama. To their marriage were born 3 children: Frances Bell, Bailey Patton Bell and Richard Bell. Jennie Bell died in 1925. Dr. Bell later married Addie S. Foster in 1930.
