West End Baptist Church was the Tuscaloosa News Feature Church on January 8, 1971.
"The West End Baptist Church at 3416 8th Street, was organized on July 17, 1938, with 37 charter members. Today the membership is upwards of 700.
West End Baptist Church tries to carry out the intention of Jesus, "Not to be ministered unto, but to minister." To this end, all the organizations of the church are geared. The Sunday School, training union, men's, ladies', boys, and girls' organizations offer excellent opportunities for service and learning in Christian causes.
For 10 years West End Baptist has operated a Christian day school and a child care center for the children of mothers who work. Three kindergartens are operated, and in the fall of 1970, a senior high school program was offered in addition to the existing elementary and junior high programs.
The present pastor is Revered Wayne McCullar."
