Description
First Free Will Baptist Church was the Tuscaloosa News Feature Church on February 19, 1971.
"The First Free Will Baptist Church of Northport was organized on November 3, 1946. The present membership is 180. The church provides a nursery, graded Sunday School, Church Training Service, Woman's Auxiliary, and a Children's Church.
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments were given by inspiration of God, and are our infallible rule of faith and practice. The doctrine which distinguishes us from other Baptist groups is the doctrine of the possibility of apotasy.
The church is evangelistic and missionary in its emphasis. It has a worldwide ministry through the Home and Foreign Mission Boards of the National Association of Free Will Baptists.
The present pastor is Thurmon Murphy of Dayton, Ohio, who began his ministry with the church August 1, 1967."
