"Northport Baptist Church was organized in 1838 with 41 members. By 1843 the membership had increased to 105. Today the membership is 1115 with 800 constituting the resident membership. The church seeks to minister to the entire family with organizations and activities suited to each age group. It is the conviction of the Pastor that the main emphasis of the church is evangelism and the developing of a more mature Christian through Bible study. Missions and group activities. The present Pastor of the church is Bro. Stanley Kelley. Bro. Kelley has been pastor since 1965, coming to Northport Baptist from the First Baptist Church in Brewton, Alabama.
He is conservative in his Theological conviction, stressing the literal inspiration of the Scriptures as well as a fundamental interpretation of them.
Northport Baptist Church has recently added two new educational buildings and carried out extensive renovations and improvements on the older structures. The church is in the process now of improving the grounds and adding new parking spaces.
We at Northport Baptist have added a youth building to our property and equipped it in the last two months and we seek to have it opened at least two nights each week. This offers sitting games, reading room, ping pong, stereo, T.V. and refreshments. Young people can come for an evening of fun and fellowship with Christian influences and surroundings.
The Music program at Northport Baptist is under the very capable direction of Mr. John Hinton. A fully graded choir program is emphasized with a large enrollment in all phases of this work.
One of the main emphases of the church is the creation of a Christian family fellowship in the church with a feeling of compassion and concern for each member. If you desire this type church, we invite you to come and enjoy living with us.
