Description
Sam P. “Bill” Faucett Jr. (top), W. Lewis Faucett (center), George Faucett (not pictured), J. Roy Faucett (not pictured) and Omar T. Faucett (bottom) are the five namesakes of Faucett Brothers Store, located in the now Historic District of downtown Northport.
The Faucett’s father, Sam P. Faucett Sr., was a Northport merchandise man himself. He founded Christian and Faucett general store in 1881. The brothers sold their late father’s share of the original location to Sam Sr.’s business partner T.W. Christian and opened their own store elsewhere. Roy, Bill and Lewis took on the responsibility of running the thriving business in 1937 and catered to the needs of community farmers over the first two decades then sold hardware and clothing in the store’s final years of operation.
The Faucett’s played such a major role in the agricultural and economic development of Northport that they are the namesake of Faucett Brothers Park (established in 2005) and Faucett Brothers Activity Center, open March 1, 2013.
Named after her beloved mother, Eugenina "Pat" Faucett (daughter of J. Roy) generously donated the 80 acres of land to PARA and to the Northport community before her passing.
