John E. Curry became the second generation to run the John Curry Furniture Store in Tuscaloosa. The store was established by his father, John H. Curry, in 1965 when he was 63 years old. John E. Curry and his sister, Carol Curry Robertson, joined their father in the venture and later their sons, John E. Curry Jr. and John Robertson followed them into the business. The store was located at 2330 4th Street in the Temerson Building. The furniture store closed in 1990. The founder, John H. Curry, died in 1994. John Robertson ran Veranda Furniture from the store, closing it in 2012, after finding a buyer for the building.
