Fred Drake, a graduate of the University of Alabama and C.P.A., was vice-president for finance of the University of Alabama system from 1974-78. From 1964 to 1974 he was associated with the University of Alabama, rising from the position of chief accountant to vice-president for financial affairs and treasurer.
He held similar positions at the University of Houston and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
