Mary Anne Norton Meredith was was born November 1, 1926 in Tuscaloosa at the Druid City Hospital, the daughter of Foster Norton and Mary Cook Norton. She graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1943 and attended the University of Alabama. In 1946 she married Harlan Meredith. She first met him in Norfolk, VA, while he was still in the Navy. They had two daughters.
Mrs. Meredith was active in community affairs and served as the Vice President of the Women's Division of the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama. She has been a life long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tuscaloosa.
