Description
The Alabama State Capitol was located on this site in Tuscaloosa from 1829 to 1846 when the capitol was moved to Montgomery.
After the capitol moved, the building was occupied by the Alabama Central Female College until it was destroyed by fire on August 23, 1923.
The ruins of the old capitol building still stand in an area known as Capitol Park.
