Description
A beard-growing contest was held as part of the celebration of Tuscaloosa's Sesquicentennial. Joe Searcy, left, took home prizes for Best In Show. The man on the right is Norbert Chabaniss. He was married to Julia Duckworth and their daughter Julia was queen of the sesquicentennial as her grandmother had been 50 years before in the city's centennial. He had shaved his beard before the photograph was taken.
