Description

Jennings Chapel Methodist Church was the Tuscaloosa News Feature Church on October 2, 1970.

"Jennings Chapel United Methodist Church is located on The Cloverdale Road in the Chapelwood area of Northport. It is one of the historical places of worship in Tuscaloosa County- having been organized in 1847. The church is named for Dr. Samuel K. Jenning, a prominent Baltimore physician and minister who moved to Tuscaloosa in the 1840's. The congregation met first in a tent and later moved into a log structure. The present building was completed in 1958.

In June this year Jennings Chapel was chosen to become the administrative head of the Jennings Parish which includes the Romulus Church and the Pleasant Grove Church.

This church's long history is a foundation upon which the present congregations seek to meet the challenges of the Christian living in today's world.

Church school meets at 10:00 and the morning service of worship follows at 11:00

The Revered B.B. Hughes Jr. pastor, extends a warm welcome to these services."
