Description
Trinity United Methodist Church was the Tuscaloosa Feature Church on October 17, 1969.
"It was in 1911 when it all began for the church that is now known as Trinity United Methodist Church, located at Tenth Street (now Paul W. Bryant Drive E.) and Eighth Avenue. Until 1949, the church was known as the Brandon Memorial Methodist. It was in 1949 that the congregation sold the building and site to Temple Emanuel congregation and moved a few blocks to its present location and changed its name to Trinity.
The Church is known for its warm and cordial fellowship. True to Methodist tradition, music has been an important part of its life. In 1953 Mr. Ted Miller began as full-time assistant to the pastor and director of choirs for all ages. Located across the street from the campus of the University of Alabama, students have always formed a large part of the life and program of the church. Its interest in children was demonstrated in September when it began a week-day program for three and four year-old children.
Just as the doors of the sanctuary are always open for prayer so is the church seeking to be open for ways, new and old, to serve mankind in the spirit of Christ."
