Description

This Fincher and Ozment float won first prize in the Tuscaloosa Centennial Parade in 1916. On the float are Mrs. William H. Fincher in the driver's seat, Mrs. Eugene Truman Ozment seated in the passenger seat, Thomas McAlpine Ozment and Louise Austin are in the back of this "Tom Thumb" float that won first prize. The float is in front of the Governor's Mansion, now the University Club. The Tuscaloosa News described the float as a "large touring car attractively decorated in white and gold, carrying in the rear a 'Tom Thumb' bride and groom, standing in a large improvised wedding ring and sly old Cupid sitting in front of the car complacently viewing the work he had done."

The family-owned Fincher and Ozment Jewelry Company was founded in 1904 and is still in business in 2015 with four generations having worked in the business.
