Unidentified men stand on Rooster Bridge. The drawbridge was located on Highway 80 about 15 miles west of Demopolis. Fighting cocks were donated and auctioned off to raise money to build the bridge. President Woodrow Wilson donated one rooster which was auctioned for $44,000. Until the bridge was built, ferries were required to cross the Tombigbee River. The bridge opened in 1925.
