Description
The iconic Moon Winx Lodge sign shone on University Blvd. East in Alberta for more than 60 years. At one time, University Blvd. was the gateway to Tuscaloosa from Birmingham before McFarland Blvd. or Interstate 20/59 were built. Thousands of Alabama football fans drove past the sign on game days.
The late artist Glenn House of Gordo (Ala.) designed the sign in the late 1950s when he worked in advertising and probably made $1.50 to $3 for his efforts.
The sign was sold to an unknown entity after the lodge closed in mid-March, 2023.
