Description
According to the book Blocton: A History of an Alabama Coal Mining Town by Charles Adams, Lt. Milton Fancher was killed on May 8, 1943, when his plane was shot down on a bombing raid over Germany. Lt. Fancher was the brother of Cpl. John W. Fancher Jr. who was killed in North Africa three months prior to his brother's death. Lt. Fancher was the son of Mr. John W. Fancher and a graduate of the University of Alabama.
