Phifer, Inc. received a Site Development Grant (associated with the Industrial Development Authority) that enabled the construction of a 1971 Fiberglass Yarn Weaving Operations building to compliment the company's 1953 Aluminum Wire Weaving Operations. It was presented by Alabama Governor Al Brewer. To Brewer's right are Reese Phifer and his daughter Beverly Phifer. To Brewer's left is Cliff Davenport, director of the Tuscaloosa Chamber of Commerce.
