Mess Attendant 2nd Class Robert L. Stoudenmire was killed on August 9, 1942, when his ship the USS Vincennes was sunk off of Salvo Island in the Solomon Islands. Stoudenmire was the son of Mr. John H. Stoudenmire of Perryville.
