According to Ancestry.com. U.S., Headstone Applications for Military Veterans, 1925-1963, Cpl. Legran Grantham was killed on October 30, 1944, while serving with the 82nd Bomber Squadron, 12th Bomber Group. Cpl. Grantham was the son of David R. Grantham of Sweetwater. For his service Cpl. Grantham was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
