Pvt. Tommy Hurst was killed on November 7, 1942, while serving with the Coast Artillery Headquarters Battery in the Pacific. Pvt. Hurst was the son of Horace Hurst Jr. and Sylvia Hurst. Pvt. Hurst was a graduate of Martin Luther Institute where he was a star player for the football team. Pvt. Hurst attended Christ Lutheran Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent.
