Description
Tech. Sgt. William G. Esslinger was killed over Italy while serving as a bombardier on May 2, 1945. Originally from Huntsville, Esslinger was a graduate of Tuscaloosa Senior High School. Esslinger later attended the University of Alabama where he was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. Esslinger was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church. For his service Sgt. Esslinger was awarded twice awarded the Air Medal, as well as a Silver Star, Purple Heart and five battle stars. Esslinger was the son of Mrs. Willow C. Esslinger.
