Title
Wheeler-Way-Shields & Gunter House, 2703 7th Street, 1890
Subject
Houses and homes
Description
Also known as the Way, Chism, Way house, and formerly the old Wheeler House, this structure, built around 1890, is an excellent example of restoration for commercial use. The two-story wood frame house retains its high ceilings, a fireplace in every room, detailed woodwork mantles, and detailed woodwork over all the doors. All the window panes and door knobs and plates are the original fixtures. Ten wood columns support the roof over the wrap-around porch which has three exits onto it from inside the house. The CPA firm of Way, Chism, and Way restored and occupied the house in 1978.
