St. Luke's United Methodist Church was the Tuscaloosa Feature Church on May 22, 1970
"Located one mile east of McFarland Mall on U.S. 11 By-Pass, St. Luke's is the youngest United Methodist Church in the city of Tuscaloosa. Under the leadership of Dr. U. S. Pitts several families met on December 2, 1962, forming the St. Luke's congregation.
Rev. John E. Shelton III, was appointed the first minister of St. Luke's in June 1963, and served until June 1967. Rev. Brantley Motes was then appointed and served until June 1969. At that time Rev. Eddie A. George, the present minister was appointed.
St. Luke's seeks to bring the grace and claims of the gospel to bear on every issue and situation which affects the well being of persons. The increase of the love of God and one's neighbor is the ultimate goal of all programs.
