J. Hal McCall (1904 - 1991) was mayor of Tuscaloosa beginning in June 1952. He was appointed to finish the term of James S. Robertson when Robertson died in office. McCall had run against Robertson in 1949 for mayor but lost that election.
McCall won re-election in the next race, but resigned in 1956 to become director of the Tuscaloosa Housing Authority. He retired from there August 1, 1970.
He served several terms as president of the Alabama Association of Housing Authorities.
He studied law and political science at the University of Alabama. McCall was born Dec. 19, 1904 and died August 22, 1991.
