Holt Baptist Church was the Tuscaloosa News "Feature Church" on June 12, 1970

"Holt Baptist Church was founded in 1904 with 18 charter members. Our present membership is 866. Our church has witnessed a continuous growth, both spiritually and in members since its founding. Our present Sunday School enrollment is 595. Training Union 174. We have a full graded nursery and choir. The present building was built in 1959; in the last 14 years the property value has increased over $350,000.

We have a full program for R.A.'s, G.A.'s, W.M.U., Sunbeams and Youth. Our Vacation Bible School commencement will be held this Sunday night. Our revival is the week of August 16, with the Reverence Lucious B. Marion, of Clarksdale, Mississippi as speaker. Reverend Marion was the former pastor of First Baptist in Tuscaloosa. The MInister of Youth and Choir is Allen Wilson. Our pastor is the Reverend Leon Elmore, who has served us for 14 years.
