Description

Alberta Church of Christ was featured as the Tuscaloosa News Feature Church on January 9, 1970.

"The Alberta Church of Christ began meeting in a residence in the eastern section of Tuscaloosa on November 8, 1958. The congregation has grown rapidly and today has a membership of 200. The present church plant was constructed in 1961. In the work of church emphasis is placed on person-to-person approach. For example, the congregation is deeply involved in local benevolent activities. Individuals, rather than an agency, carry on every phase of this work. In this outreach no restrictions are applied in regard to race, color, or creed, or type of assistance needed. Monthly support is also sent to Childhaven, an Alabama orphanage. Local evangelism also follows the person-to-person concept and involves many members. The mission outreach of the church includes co-sponsoring the Herald of Truth TV program on channel 33 (WCFT-TV); assisting a mission church in Eutaw; and partially supporting an evangelist in Greece. Special annual programs include a Vacation Bible School and a Youth Forum each summer, and spring and fall evangelistic campaigns. The Alberta Church of Christ is located at 1110-26th Avenue East.
Schedule of Services: Sunday 10:00 A.M. Bible School, 10:50 A.M. Worship, 6:00 P.M. Worship, Wednesday 7:00 P.M. Bible Classes and Devotional.
The public is cordially invited to all services. (Nursery attendants are on duty during services.) Carrel M. Anderson, Minister, has formally served churches in Texas and Norway. Lewis Stewart serves as Director of Education."
