Description

Camille Elebash was born in Tuscaloosa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Maxwell. She attended Tuscaloosa schools including  the University of Alabama where she studied journalism. She worked at The Tuscaloosa News before going to New York to work at the New York Times. When she returned to Tuscaloosa she was editor of the University of Alabama Alumni Magazine and earned a Master's degree in journalism. 

Camille Elebash, along with her husband, Karl Elebash, founded a Tuscaloosa newspaper called The Graphic in 1957. In 1979, the couple sold the newspaper to The Tuscaloosa News and it eventually ceased publication.

Elebash became a University of Alabama associate professor of advertising and public relations and taught for 16 years.. She attended the 1984 GOP convention with her husband, who was a delegate from Tuscaloosa. Elebash wrote a commentary on the convention for the Tuscaloosa News as well as other commentary articles for the News.

Elebash has a daughter and three sons. Karl Elebash died in 2003.
