Ed Montgomery was born in Tuscaloosa County, and spent three years with the Navy Seabees in the South Pacific. He attended Perry Business College as he established Montgomery Woodworks and operated it for 42 years. Ed built his first home for sale in 1946 and continued building through the years as he pursued other business interests.
He was a member of Tuscaloosa's first elected City Council in 1985.
In 1992, Ed became a licensed Realtor and secured his broker’s license in 1994 at which time he began Montgomery Land.
