Clell Lavern "Butch" Hobson Sr. was a member of the Tuscaloosa City Council for one term from 1997 - 2001.
Born November 28, 1930 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama Hobson was educated in the Tuscaloosa City Schools.
He entered the University of Alabama on both football and baseball scholarships. He played quarterback at the University of Alabama from 1949 through the 1953 Orange Bowl (which was, at that time, considered the most lopsided bowl win in history - Alabama 61, Syracuse 6). Bart Starr was his backup in the Orange Bowl game.
Hobson then played professional baseball for five years with the Cleveland Indians organization. Beginning in 1958, he became a long time teacher and football coach with various school systems in Alabama.
