Owen Meredith Sr. was a partner at Owen Meredith and Sons Real Estate and Insurance Firm. Mr. Meredith was the first President of the Tuscaloosa Jr. Chamber of Commerce as well as President of the Kiwanis Club, Tuscaloosa Chamber of Commerce, and the Dollarhide Hunting Club. Mr Meredith was also an active member of the Boy Scouts Council and the American Red Cross. Owen Meredith was married to Kate Cross and had two sons Harlan C. Meredith and Owen Meredith Jr.
