This February 2, 1915, newspaper was the first published after the The Tuscaloosa News purchased the Tuscaloosa Times-Gazette. The resulting newspaper would be issued mornings.
The Tuscaloosa News had been founded in 1910 with Sam F. Clabaugh as editor. The Times-Gazette with Tom Garner as editor was formed by the consolidation of The Times and The Gazette in 1903. The Times-Gazette was one of the oldest papers in Alabama and was the result of the consolidation and purchase of a number of older papers in Tuscaloosa dating back to 1818.
