Description
Reuben D. Dodson was the pastor of Northport Baptist Church from 1857 to 1860. Dodson, a South Carolina native, married Elizabeth Anders in 1827. He and Otis Dyer surveyed the downtown Northport area and sold it off in lots. The Dodson-Dyer Survey is still used today.
The Dodsons had seven children: Martha Frances Dodson, Ezekiel Kosciusko Dodson, 1831-1932; Sarah Elizabeth Dodson, 1835-1892; Samantha Caroline Dodson, 1843-1941; William Rufus Dodson, 1829-1924; Thomas Jefferson Dodson, 1832-1859; Mary Adline Dodson, 1839-Unknown.
