Description
In 1828, the sum of $1700 was subscribed for the erection of the church. Work on the church did not commence until 1829 and was complete in 1830. William Nichols, State Architect of Alabama, may have designed the church.
In 1831 Rev. Alva Woods was installed in Christ Church as the first president of the University of Alabama.
Christ Episcopal Church is still located today in the same location in downtown Tuscaloosa but was enlarged and remodeled in 1882.
