Description
The photo is of the grave of Nimrod Hendrick, a Tuscaloosa pioneer who served in the War of 1812, and received a land warrant for his service near present day Duncanville, south of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
He deeded land to the Sand Mountain Methodist Meeting House near his home and a cemetery there has 17 graves. The cemetery, located off Bear Creek Road, had been abandoned and was overgrown until descendants of Hendrick located and restored the cemetery by clearing the brush and cleaning the monuments. The cemetery was registered with the Alabama Historical Commission as an Alabama Historic Cemetery and a historical marker was placed there.
