Article:
County Library Branch Opens in Northport
A branch of the Tuscaloosa County Library was opened yesterday afternoon at the Northport Community Center with a collection of approximately 650 books being made available for people of the community.

Mrs. T.A. Edgeworth, a member of the Tuscaloosa County High School faculty, will serve as branch librarian under the supervision of Miss Barbara Davis, librarian of the Tuscaloosa County Library.

The collection in the branch library includes books of fiction, biography, travel and "how to do it" books, for adults and children.  The number of books will increase and books will be changed from time to time, according to Miss Davis.

A list of requests for books not available in the Northport library will be kept, and it is the hope of the librarian that people will assist in guiding the choice of books to be placed on the shelves.

Mrs. Edgeworth will be at the branch library from 3:30 until 5:30 each afternoon, Monday through Saturday; and from 7 until 9 on Friday and Saturday evenings.

The library facilities in Northport have been made possible through the combined efforts of the Northport Park and Recreation Board and the Tuscaloosa County Library Board, with the assistance of Miss Barbara Davis.

The materials and labor for the portion of the Community Center which has been converted into a library were donated.  Materials contributed by Holman Lumber Company, Maxwell Lumber Company, Holley Hardware, Holley and Quarles, and Faucett Brothers.  Mrs. Burwell Anders gave a fan.

Volunteer labor was done by T.A. Edgeworth, Mr. Partain, Jake Duren, Wick Patton, Tom Christian, Bennie Goodman, Gayle Mitchum and Boots Aaron.
