Highest Honors
Besides the general Honors conferred in the separate Schools, special honors, designated as Highest Honors, shall be conferred at the end of the Sophomore and Senior Years. At the end of the Sophomore Year, all candidates for titled academic degrees who shall have obtained an average grade of 93 per cent, or more, of all the marks obtainable in all the Schools of the University in which they have pursued full courses during the Freshman and Sophomore Years, shall be entitled to Second Year Honors. AT the end of the Senior Year, all candidates for titled academic degrees, whose average is 93 per cent, or more, in all the Schools of the University in which they have pursued full courses during the Junior and Senior Years, shall be entitled to Final Honors.

Of the Candidates for Titled Academic Degrees, not more than eleven are selected to deliver Orations on the Commencement Day. These Speakers are selected in accordance with the following rules: On the first Friday of the Third Term, the standing of all candidates for Titled Academic Degrees is counted for the Junior Year and for the First and Second Terms of the Second Year, and all whose Standing for this time equals or exceeds 90 per cent are notified by the President of the University of their right to contend for Speaker's places at the approaching Commencement. On the Friday nearest the 21st of April those thus notified may deliver uncorrected Orations before Committees of the Faculty, and from the Speakers thus delivering Orations the Speakers for Commencement Day are selected. Each of the Undergraduate Courses is entitled to representation on the list of speakers in proportion to the number of candidates for a degree in each course. The other candidates for Titled Academic Degrees subit Theses, which must be approved by the Faculty, but which are not read in public. From the Law Department, two Candidates for Graduation speak on Commencement Day, but not as contestants for the Trustees' Prize. On the programme, George Oliver Dickey and Francis Marion Purifoy represent the Law Department.

Trustees' Prize
By Decree of the Board of Trustees, a Prize of Twenty-Five Dollars or its equivalent in a badge or other suitable testimonial, at the option of the successful competitor, will be given for the best orations (composition and delivery considered) by a Candidate for Graduation with the degree of Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Letters or Bachelor of Engineering. This Prize is awarded by a Committee appointed by the President of the University.
The Ready Writer Prize
A friend of the University has permanently established an Annual Prize for the best English Essay written by a member of the Senior Class upon a theme assigned after the competitors enter the examination room. The theme for the present year was "Faith As A Force in the Non-Religious World," and a Committee has awarded this Prize to
