Lt. Charles A. Lewis died on July 16, 1918 from wounds suffered while serving with the 38th Infantry. Lt. Lewis was a 1916 graduate of the University of Alabama Law School. Following graduation Lt. Lewis practiced law in Fayette, Alabama before entering service. Lt. Lewis was the husband of Mrs. Ucal Stevens Lewis.
