1Lt. Claude H. Cargile died on May 25, 1970, from wounds received while serving with Company A, 123rd Aviation Battalion, 16th Aviation Group, Americal Division as a helicopter pilot. Lt. Cargile attended both Marion Institute and Greensboro High School before graduating from Banks High School in Birmingham. Lt. Cargile was also a graduate of Auburn University and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Cargile of Tuscaloosa.
