1Lt. Eddie L. Smith was killed on June 9, 1969, while serving with Battery A, 2nd Battalion, 319th Artillery, 101st Airborne. Lt. Smith was a graduate of Stillman College. Lt. Smith was the husband of Mrs. Mary Jean Madison Smith formerly of Tuscaloosa and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Lee Smith of Renz, Georgia.
