Cpl. Lawrence A. Hayes was killed on August 3, 1969, while serving with Company M, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division. Cpl Hayes was a graduate of Druid High School and a member of Bailey Tabernacle CME Church. Cpl Hayes was the son of Mr. Anthony Hayes of Los Angeles and Mrs. Vertha Lee Holley of Chicago.
