The chart shows Tuscaloosa High School Football personnel and teams from 1925 to 1929 with coach Paul Burnum.
Burnum led the Black Bears to an undefeated record, five state championships and four national championship during his five-year tenure there. Burnum went on to coach multiple sports at the University of Alabama. After his death in 1981 he was elected posthumously to the Alabama Football Hall of Fame.
Team manager Rainy Collins went on to become a mayor of the city of Tuscaloosa.
The team captains were Joe Bowers (FB) in 1925, John Suther (HB) In 1926, Tab Abernathy (T) in 1927. 1928 co-captains were Teeny Beard (T) and Hilmon Holley (QB). and in 1929 Buck Hughes (FB) was captain.
The team was the state championship team 1925 -1929 and national championship team 1926-1929.
Players making All State one year or more: Joe Bowers, John Suther, Hilmon Holley, Frank Kendall, Tab Abernathy, Teeny Beard, Riley Clements, Pal Cochrane, Bob Swain, Howard Bagwell, Buck Hughes and John Hundertmark.
