Description

Ward Wharton McFarland was honored in the United States House of Representatives by Alabama Representative Spencer Bachus.

McFarland was a lawyer and real estate developer in Tuscaloosa and was State Highway Commissioner under Gov. Jim Folsom.

McFarland built, along with David Hinton, the McFarland Mall in Tuscaloosa that opened in 1969. McFarland Boulevard is named for him, as well as McFarland Plaza
