Description
The Druid Theater was located by the First National Bank Building (now the PNC Building) on University Boulevard. The theater was formerly the Bama Theatre until the new theater was built on Greensboro Avenue at Sixth Street in 1938. Druid Theater was demolished for expansion of the bank building.
Showing was a feature with Robert Mitchum called a Kefauver Expose. In 1950-51, the United States Senate had a special committee to investigate organized crime in interstate commerce. The committee was named after Tennessee Senator Estes Kefauver who first chaired the committee.
Also featured was former University of Alabama All-American and Green Bay Packer Don Hutson.
