Mr. and Mrs. Tom Shumaker have given a flagpole and flag to the Friedman Library. Mr. Shumaker is chairman of the library. The flagpole was used for the first time on Friday. Shown hoisting the flag on the 40-foot pole are, left to right, Mrs. Sam Sasser, librarian; Mrs. Grover Golson, children's librarian; Cliff Armstrong, library treasure; and Miss Camille Huxford, library page. Mrs. Sasser who has been the librarian since 1962, said it is the first time the library has ever had a flagpole and flag. The pole was erected by the county.
