Description

L.V. Hall was a fervent supporter of the Benjamin Barnes Branch YMCA in Tuscaloosa, a foot soldier in the fight for civil rights, friend and supporter to numerous political campaigns and campaigners and long-time deacon of First African Baptist Church.

In early life, Hall worked with the late Rev. T.Y. Rogers, helping end segregation in public places in Tuscaloosa and conducting voter registration drives for the disenfranchised. With Rogers, he helped merge the Tuscaloosa Citizens Action Committee into the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

Hall was inducted into the Barnes YMCA Hall of Fame in 2012.
At First African Baptist Church, Hall served on the board of deacons for more than 40 years.

Originally from Greensboro, Hall worked at S.H. Kress Department Store in downtown Tuscaloosa and ran a shoe shop for several years.
