Description

First United Methodist Church of Northport was the Tuscaloosa News Feature Church on November 27, 1970.

"The First United Methodist Church of Northport is located at 700 Main Avenue. There is a lot of history behind this church dating back before 1840 when the church was first organized. The present sanctuary was built in 1913 replacing an old frame structure. The initial portion of the educational building was built in the 1940's under the ministry of Rev. John Rutland. In 1967 a new and modern educational building was erected adjacent to the sanctuary which houses the entire church school. The educational program is designed to meet the needs of all ages. Our music program consists of three choirs, the adult, youth, and children's. The present pastor is J. Elton Beasley.
