The new Central YMCA Building on 10th street was formally opened and dedicated on Sunday, April 5, 1959, at 3 PM.
The photograph shows from left to right: Harlan Meredith, Y President; Charles Whorton of Atlanta, general secretary for the YMCA Southern Area Council; Emory Nelson of New York, YMCA World Service executive secretary; J. Oviatt Bowers, vice president of the Y National Council; and R. Lee Johnston Y executive secretary.
These Y officials were part of a crowd of more than 4,000 that toured the building after the dedication ceremonies.
